Joint Meeting - Coptic Orthodox Diocese of Melbourne & Coptic Orthodox Diocese of Sydney with the Assistant Minister for Immigration

On Tuesday 4 March 2025, the Coptic Orthodox Church of Australia marked a historic and landmark day as the Coptic Orthodox Diocese of Melbourne and the Coptic Orthodox Diocese of Sydney came together at St Mina and St Marina’s Coptic Orthodox Church in Hallam, Victoria to meet with the Assistant Minister for Immigration, The Hon. Matt Thistlethwaite MP, and The Hon. Peter Khalil MP to discuss Australian immigration policy for the Coptic Orthodox communities in Australia.

This long-anticipated and fruitful meeting brought us together as a united front to advocate for the needs of our respective Coptic communities.

The discussion addressed urgent humanitarian matters and presented a plan for future cooperation between the Church and the government. We express our gratitude to the Australian Government and the Ministers for their support and collaboration.
